Experience the Gospel of Mark
So many devotional books for teenagers fall prey to one or more of these missteps: they talk about the Bible but don’t get young people to read it; they talk down to teenagers; or they try too hard to be cool (which just comes off as lame). Experience the Gospel of Mark, thankfully, avoids all these problematic approaches. It’s straightforward, engaging, conversational, and invitational. And I love that The Message passages for each day are embedded in the text, which increases the likelihood that students will actually read them.
-Mark Oestreicher, The Youth Cartel
Experience the Gospel of Mark gives students of the Bible a thirty-day immersion into the shortest of the four Gospels. Each reading offers readers the space to experience God through the text. The accessibility of The Message makes the experiential nature of this Bible study an inviting opportunity. The Message captures the sacred words of Mark’s Gospel and communicates them in common, everyday language. The daily readings immerse readers in sizable passages from Mark and lead readers to reflect on how each passage can penetrate the heart and lead to spiritual formation.

As a family and student pastor, I am always looking for resources that challenge students and are Bible based. Here it is! Experience the Gospel of Mark: 30 Days of Reading, Learning, and Living God’s Word is what I plan to give out to students who are hungry to dive into the Bible on their own. The structure and layout are easy for students to follow, and the experience and takeaway sections challenge the reader to not just have head knowledge but also apply what they are reading to their lives. Yes. Yes! Yes!! We need resources like this to help cultivate a rhythm of learning and a living out of our faith.

Experience the Wisdom of Proverbs
When my boys were small, I adopted a nightly prayer over them: Dear God, give my sons wisdom to know right from wrong, and give them the courage to do right―even when it’s hard. Now that they are young men, I rejoice to see God answering this prayer in mighty ways―including with this resource. Experience the Wisdom of Proverbs is a powerful guide to a Powerful Guide, written in a language we can all understand.

I have great hope for this upcoming generation of students. I believe they are hungry for God. And I’m thankful for resources like Andy Klenke’s Experience the Wisdom of Proverbs that will equip these teens to engage with Scripture in meaningful ways. Klenke does a great job drawing out the wisdom embedded in Solomon’s collection of proverbs and leads students through a variety of exercises to apply that wisdom directly to their lives. Students will find this resource understandable, relatable, and practical.

Experience the Wisdom of Proverbs invites students to gain wisdom by going right to the Scriptures. The hands-on assignments welcome reflection without bogging [students] down in the details, a perennial problem for anyone who sits down to read through the book of Proverbs. The pace and tone of the study invite personal, thoughtful application. Solomon himself couldn’t have asked for more.
